On Christmas Eve, a curious child embarks on a hilarious adventure with a man he believes to be Santa Claus — but is actually an undercover thief.

“Il tocco” means not only “touch”; it can also mean a small quantity, a single brushstroke in painting, the striking of a bell or of piano keys. The surroundings meet the eye. Direct touch releases an interior impulse. Surfaces open to states of being. Out of this encounter arises the image. From the images, an inner place. In the film as in consciousness, the distances of spaces and bodies, the layerings of time conjoin. A house, a city in Italy, traffic, and the movements of people are visibly filmed in the present. But the images embrace a living continuity. The light of one day links my eyes to the eyes of someone who lived here, in the same city, two, three, or five hundred years ago. On a church wall, a sculptor has left an arched curtain in stone. Through the rhythm of its inward and outward foldings, the film becomes “still.”

A man and a woman meet during a calm autumn day in the middle of Crimean field. By the end of their journey we realize that their meeting was destined.

At a bus stop they meet Francesca, an eighteen year old who is collaborating in a veterinary office, and Claudio, a university student. The two begin to walk together and talk about many things.

Sara, who has just arrived at St Cecilia's Conservatory, will discover there are different ways to interpret each side of the prism from which she perceives her reality and talent.

One hot spring day, Lluís has a strong argument with his father at the construction site where they work together as architects. As a result of this confrontation, Lluís forced himself to abandon all his responsibilities, pushing his deepest fears to the limit and feeling overwhelmed by the world around him. Instead of going to pick up his daughter Julia at his ex-partner's house, he begins an intense journey that will lead him to decide whether or not to take control of his life.

The Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Daniel Harding, presents Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 with Igor Levit, a masterful interpreter of this repertoire. The program concludes with Elgar’s Enigma Variations, a poetic and ironic portrait of the English spirit.

Antonio Pappano conducts the Orchestra and Choir of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, accompanied by tenor Luciano Ganci and baritone Mattia Olivieri. The programme includes Giacomo Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Amilcare Ponchielli’s Elegia and Victor de Sabata’s Juventus.
